Delivering culturally competent parent education and early screening for children and young people with emerging behavioural, emotional, or SEN needs in North London.
Families in North London face significant barriers to support. NHS England data shows average CAMHS waits exceed 32 weeks, while DfE figures indicate that pupils with SEN are five times more likely to be excluded.
ONS data highlights higher rates of unmet SEN needs among children from Black and Asian backgrounds due to reduced access, stigma, and lower engagement with services. Our consultations with 150 families echo this: 82% struggled to access assessments and 76% reported cultural or communication barriers.
